Barbie Project

BEFORE

AFTER

Plastic is Fake

Medium: Photoshop

This project was one about the power of photoshop and the problem with self image in today's world.  Barbies have always been seen as the ideal figure but, in reality, their proportions would be considered extremely unhealthy and deadly.  Taylor swift is one of those celebrities that is seen as the perfect person.  I chose her to show that no person would look healthy as a Barbie.  After making the color changes and changing sizes, Taylor Swift's perfect features turned into a plastic disaster.  Natural beauty is more appealing than beauties created in photoshop.

We were given a photo and instrusctions to correct and change specific areas of the photo.  I am learning how to efficiently use the liquify tool in photoshop.  With practice I think that I could go far with this talent.

The Power of Photoshop

The Power of Photoshop

Medium: Photoshop

In this day and age the use of Photoshop in professional pictures is not only common but needed.  99.9% of photos in magazines have been distorted to create the unattainable "perfect" image.  This picture I edited is one example of how a beautiful picture can be changed to fit the "perfect" standard of today's generation.

Candyman

Medium: Construction paper, Colored Pencils, Camera, and Photoshop

By: Allie Snyder  2/19/13

I feel this project was successful for the most part.  I understand the steps and tasks to create an animation, however, my project did not turn out as planned.  I wanted the project to look like a walking candyman. It turns out that the project is a candyman doing lunges.  Funny but not my goal.  I feel the problem came in while trying to take the pictures of the paper piece by piece.  The camera stayed still but many of the libs and core moved without me noticing until in Photoshop.  Loading the photos and se3tting them into frames was not a problem that I encountered.  If I were to do this project over again I would start simpler.  I had too many rotating parts for trial one of animation.  By making fewer, bigger pieces, I would have more control over the movements.  Taking the photos turned out to be the most complicated part of this project because mistakes were so easy and minor mistakes effected the over all outcome greatly.  I am not a fan of animation at this point but with practice I feel that the processes will become second nature.

KIddy Cartoon (My First Time Animating)

A Windy Day

Medium: Photoshop

I have learned that animating is a slow process that takes much practice. Each little frame of movement effects future frames and past frames.  You have to create a flow that is not obvious at the start.  I enjoy animating and, with more learning and practice, I like my love for it will grow.

I feel that the idea and steps flowed well in this piece.  I did not run into many problems because the animation was simple the picture was already very animated.  If I were to do this project over again I would leave out the pointing arrow.  It doesn't change the idea or the audience of the animation, it just doesn't seem to make sense.  Finding a way to connect the last frame and the first frame was the most complicated task.  By throwing in the arrow I tried to link them.  Learning is all a part of art and while stepping back and looking at my animation, I have found minor crucial details I need to change in the future.

The Ultimate Steelers Fan (Mesh Project 3)

The Ultimate Steeler's Fan

Medium: Photoshop

Although I am not a huge Steeler's fan myself, I did find the perfect picture to represent a fan on game day.  Pittsburgh gets pretty cold during the winter football season, (I'm a Carolina girl) so a polar bear was the perfect symbol for a Steeler's fan.  The "watch for ice and Steeler's fans," sign just adds to the obvious competitive atmosphere at Steeler's games. I have to say that this was probably the most entertaining picture I have worked on so far.

I used the cut and past, stamp, and paint tool to complete this assignment.  The colors make the important parts jump out and the extra details fade back.  By writing on the "Watch for Ice" sign (& Steeler's fans) the image gains character and humor.  I love this photo and know a lot of my friends, who are steeler's fans, would agree with the truth behind this image.

Changes for the future: Delete the logo and the flags shadow looks unnatural.

Mesh Project 2

Playing the Reigns

Medium: Photoshop

Inspired by: The Last Song and Spirit (Movies)

When I saw the picture of this horse I immediately thought of energy and passion.  The position that the horse is in reminded me of a piano player with perfect posture.  This idea lead to another and memories of the movie The Last Song ("When I Look at You" by Miley Cyrus) flooded through my head.  I found a piano like Veronica (Roni a.k.a. Miley Cyrus) was playing on the beach.  This image brings back child hood memories and has an energy that was not present at the start.

I did use the obvious element of water in this piece but only to add flow.  My main to elements are a piano and a horse.  I used the water splashes to fix any awkward cuts and edges.  The colors in this piece work with the message of the piece.  The horses symbolizes a strong love for music and it's upright position shows the ideal posture of a piano player.

Mesh Project 1

Key to My Heart

Medium: Photoshop

I have always found weddings beautiful and elegant.  I like to believe that a marriage lasts forever and unlocks the door to a beautiful life. Every girls dream of love right?

In this piece I took a challenge of creating the obvious.  A groom holds the key to the brides heart at a wedding and portraying that was a challenge because everyone has their own idea of how the symbolism should look.  I used the warp and eraser tools to make the lock and key look real and clean cut.  This piece is not my favorite so I went on the create to more Mesh projects.  The color and unity works for the most part but still lacks in flow.  Next time I will choose a better image or a idea that is less personal to every ones ideas.  It is hard to create a piece knowing that your audience has a view of their own.

Newmial 2

Monkblapord (Monkey/Black Leopard)

Medium: Photoshop

When I was searching for animals to combine, I came across a black leopard in a tree.  I instantly thought of a gorilla climbing the tree and how the black leopard and a monkey had a common talent.  By using the stamp tools and a combination of erasers and burn/dodge tools, I have created a Monkblapord.  This rare breed of a monkey and a cat would be at the top of the food chain because of its speed and ability to get out of danger.
